Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers):

How do I register?  You can go to our 5K page to register. Simply complete the participant info and you’ll be good to go!

How do I get my participant T-shirt? Tee-shirts will be guaranteed  for all participants registered online by April 5.  We will do our best to get shirts to individuals who register after that date, but shirts are not guaranteed by race day. We plan to offer five ways for you to get your shirt:

  1. Curb-Side pick-up at Elim (Wednesday, May 5, from 3-6 pm)
  2. Sent home with an Elim Student
  3. Sent home with an Elim Adult
  4. Sent home with an Elim staff member
  5. Sent to you by mail (for out of state participants)

Choose which way works best for you during registration!

How do I participate in a virtual 5K? For the virtual 5K, you will walk, run, or roll wherever you are at!  We’d love for you to join the Elim community by walking/running/rolling in your neighborhood at 9 am on Saturday, May 15! We will have our team leading and encouraging you via Facebook Live and you’ll know that hundreds of others in the Elim community are supporting Elim with you!

If you need to participate at a different time, that is fine too.  We hope all participants will wear their Elim 5K T-shirt and will post or email pics of their participation, whenever it is!

How do I figure out a 5K course? Some participants choose to do the 5K and others signed up for the 1-Mile walk.  Whichever distance you chose, there are multiple ways to determine a “course” in your area, or you are welcome to simply “guestimate”.  Walking a 5K is usually 6,000-7,000 steps.  Running a 5K is usually 4,000-5,000 steps.  Walking a Mile is usually around 2,000 steps. Here are some ways our team suggests to choose your course:

  1. MapMyRun
  2. RunKeeper
  3. Google Maps

You can also just hop in your car and set the trip odometers to zero, then drive your preferred course to get a rough idea of the route distance. Note:  You do not need to “prove” that you completed a full 5K or 1-Mile.  You are welcome to also do any distance of your choice or just enjoy a leisurely walk with your family – all wearing your 5K T-shirts, of course!

** We do ask that you honor social distancing guidelines on your run/walk/roll when it comes to engaging with individuals outside of your household as you participate.

How will you know if I participated? We hope you won’t keep your participation a secret!  Please let us know you are participating by taking pics and sharing those with us!  You can post them directly to our Facebook 5K event page or email them to info@elimcs.org.

How do I raise funds? The easiest way to raise funds is to direct people to our 5K page.  You can either direct folks to donate to your specific participant page or they can simply donate to the event. Another option is to collect pledges using this Pledge Form.  Once all donations are collected, they can be mailed to Elim along with the form.

Folks can also mail-in cash or check donations (checks made payable to Elim Christian Services) and note “Elim 5K” on the memo line or on an enclosed note.  [mail to Elim Christian Services, 13020 S Central Ave, Crestwood, IL  60418).

What if it Rains on May 15? If it rains, or if rain is very likely forecasted, we will communicate any changes in the time schedule through an email blast to all registered participants and post an update on our Facebook page.

What if I have questions? Contact Laura at laura.schnyders@elimcs.org or 708-293-6509.

Is there a raffle for prizes? Yes!  Thanks to our many great sponsors we have several raffle prizes to share!  All registered participants that post or email pics of their participation are automatically entered into the drawing for these prizes.  Pics must be posted by end-of-day Monday, May 17 to be included in the raffle drawings.  (Camera shy?  You can also share the number of steps you completed – just promise us you wore your t-shirt!)
