CREATING A COMMUNITY OF THRIVING
Enhancing our facilities to ensure the students and staff at Elim can THRIVE.
“But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.” —Isaiah 32:8
Elim has 252 school staff members, including teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals
Because appropriate facilities are an important component of thriving for our students and staff , Elim is excited to undertake a three-phase $5,225,000 capital campaign to update Elim’s common areas, classrooms, therapy, and outdoor spaces to meet the sensory, accessibility, communication, and medical needs of our students.
Over the past 75 years, the changing needs of our students have transformed Elim into a highly respected, Christian organization with specialized programs for students with intense sensory, accessibility, communication, and medical needs. This specialization makes Elim’s dated facilities an obstacle to students and staff thriving on our campus.
100% school staff indicate they require more space for educational equipment storage.
Safe and accessible common areas and classrooms are vital to the work of staff and the well-being of students at Elim. Common areas are often used for toileting, dining, recreation, and sensory regulation and need updating to ensure the safety of our students. Reducing distractions and promoting appropriate stimulation for student-centered learning are important updates needed in Elim classrooms and common areas.
Large, multi-purpose common space rooms with accessible doorways to efficiently maneuver equipment and classrooms with fewer barriers and more room for storage — that is our vision. We want to create spaces that function for the current needs of our students and staff with a more sustainable environment for all of their needs.
5 playgrounds are available to Elim students
Elim provides a multitude of therapies for our students: physical, occupational, speech, medical, and recreational therapies are all included in our students’ individualized programming. Accessible and distraction-free spaces for these therapeutic services are desperately needed for our students and staff as they provide opportunities for learning, socialization, and recreation.
Having functional and distraction-free therapeutic spaces for our students and staff is one of our biggest priorities — indoors and outdoors. We envision outdoor play environments that keep children safe and enrich the lives of our students and accessible indoor therapeutic rooms that encourage acceleration and independence in students’ growth.
Your partnership in this campaign will ensure that Elim remains a highly respected, Christian organization with specialized programs for students with intense sensory, accessibility, communication, and medical needs.
The enhanced facilities will make it possible for students and staff to THRIVE at Elim for the next 75 years!
