Elim in Nicaragua: Day 2

June 14, 2012

Today was a challenging but great day. Working with FH, we drove to two communities to visit with families there who have children with disabilities. We got a chance to meet with them to hear their story, and also their concerns and hopes for their children. We also were able to visit the school to talk with the teachers about their experiences with students who have a hard time at school, and what they wish for them and their future. We answered questions and shared our experiences, encouraging them for their hard work and perseverance as they begin the first steps in this journey.

After that, we traveled to a church in the community of Terencio. Here we were able to meet families of children with disabilities, who want to know more about those disabilities and what they can be doing to help their children live a full life in their community. It was great to see the growing desire to learn more, and the love they have for their children. At the end of the meeting, many families decided to meet again and continue in this process of loving and supporting these amazing children.

Tony was very excited to pass out Hope Packs at all three of these communities. He was glad to finally be able to meet the kids he had been looking forward to meeting for so long. Everyone was happy to take pictures with him on the camera he had brought along. It made him feel really happy to give the Hope Packs to the children he met.
