Adult Services Picnic 2019

August 15, 2019

Who doesn’t love a picnic?

Last week, thanks to many volunteers and gracious prize donations, Elim help its 30th annual Adult Services Picnic on Friday, August 9. Nearly 375 Elim participants, family members, and volunteers joined us at this wonderful event.

Linda Christianson, one of the members of the Adult Services Picnic Committee, has been helping with the picnic for 29 years now! Over the years, she has seen the committee perfect each detail of the picnic to ensure that our adults have a really great time. Participants Linda and Stacey couldn’t choose which part of the day was their favorite because of how much fun they had! Stacey reflects, “I had a great day spending time with my friends and their families. I even won the dance competition and my favorite prizes were two picture frames!”

According to Christianson, as soon as their Christmas party ends in December, our participants start asking about when their picnic is going to take place. This event truly is a highlight of their year!

Just after eight in the morning, participants from both adult services campuses arrive to the event ready for fun. You wouldn’t believe how immediately their faces light up, seeing our volunteers setting up games and getting our many prize tables ready.

As soon as 9:30 hits, our adults dash to the games, eager to enjoy them with their family and friends. What happens when our attendees take a break from the games? You can find them spending their time dancing at the DJ booth, cooling off with some lemonade, and getting temporary tattoos! After taking a break for a delicious lunch, everyone gathers to listen to Sweet Reminder, who played hits from the 50’s and 60’s that had everyone dancing!

A picnic this fun take over four months to plan, but the event coordinators spend their entire year collecting prizes. We were so blessed this year to have an abundance of goodies for our prize tables. To those who took the time to drop off prizes – thank you! You put smiles on a lot of faces.

Thank you so much to everyone that made this event possible. The 30th Annual Adult Services Picnic was a huge success – we can’t wait for next year!
