The Impact of HOPE Packs in the Roseland Neighborhood

Elim’s HOPE Packs program makes partnering with ministries across Chicagoland easy.

Roseland Christian Ministries is a Christian-based organization that focuses on loving its neighbors as God calls them. Through youth programming, food pantries, and a women’s and children’s shelter, the ministry thrives on giving back to its surrounding community.

This shared commitment to service sparked a natural partnership between Elim and Roseland Christian Ministries. Our connection began years ago, rooted in a shared history within the Christian Reformed community. While our specific areas of focus may differ, we are united in uplifting communities that are often overlooked and underserved.

When Elim’s HOPE packs program began, it opened new doorways to partner with RCM and collaborate—bringing School Kits to women and children in their shelters who may not have had access to the school supplies their children needed.

Rickael, a team member at Roseland Christian Ministries, was once a child living at their shelter. Because of this experience, she knew she wanted to join their ministry and give back to those who once supported her and her family.

Every year, Rickael’s children receive HOPE Packs School Kits.

“It’s a big help,” she says. “School is every year, and you just never know what you will go through or how you will afford the next notebook, pack of pencils, or set of markers. And, of course, your kids don’t know where the supplies are coming from – they just know mommy and daddy will get it for them.”

Knowing that students don’t feel left out by their peers is a great feeling, and everyone who donates to HOPE Packs helps make one more student feel included.
