Introducing Hygiene Kits

For the past 20 years, HOPE Packs has remained a cornerstone of our Adult Services program, impacting thousands of people throughout our community and around the world through School Kits, Hunger Kits, and Military Kits.

Now, we are unveiling a brand-new kit to the HOPE Packs family – a Hygiene Kit!

What are Hygiene Kits?

Imagine going several days without access to deodorant, a toothbrush, or basic hygiene supplies. Now imagine preparing for a job interview, attending an appointment, or simply interacting with others while lacking these essential hygiene items. For many people experiencing homelessness, this is a daily reality.

Access to personal hygiene products is something many of us rarely think about. But these simple items play an important role in a person’s life. As Christians, we are called to serve others with compassion and care. The addition of Hygiene Kits reflects Elim’s ongoing commitment to serving our community while creating vocational opportunities for the adults we serve.

Hygiene Kits help address immediate personal care needs for individuals experiencing homelessness. Each kit is thoughtfully assembled by Elim’s adults, knowing it will provide support to someone facing difficult circumstances. Every bag includes shampoo, conditioner, a comb, a hairbrush, a toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, body wash, a razor, a shower cap, and lotion.

Limited access to hygiene products can create barriers to personal development. By providing these kits, we hope to help remove some of those barriers and offer a small but meaningful step toward confidence and success.

Spreading HOPE Continues

This year, we partnered with Roseland Christian Ministries and Pacific Garden Mission to produce 6,000 Hygiene Kits for distribution throughout the Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana suburbs.

When speaking with adults about this exciting new opportunity, a few themes emerged again and again, but one sentiment remained clear: there is a strong desire to help. A few of Elim’s adults shared, “We’re excited to help,” “We want to give back,” and “People need these items.”

Just as our adult participants were excited to pack these hygiene kits, Elim as a whole is equally grateful for the opportunity to help bring them to life.

But none of this would be possible without you.
