Karen Provides HOPE!Nov 09, 2009
Karen McNicholas loves to help others and always has. Her mom explains, “It gives Karen great pleasure to know that she’s helping someone. It’s always been important to her. Karen likes to give of herself if she’s able.” That’s why Elim’s HOPE Packs are so important. Through your support of the HOPE Pack program, Karen and other adults with disabilities, are provided with steady work packing relief, food, or hygiene kits for children in need. Elim’s adults love to put in a good day’s work and they love the satisfaction that comes from knowing they’re helping others! Karen has been part of Elim’s family for many years. Now 35 years old, she started in Elim Christian School and now travels to Elim’s Adult Services program each day, where she often assembles Elim HOPE Packs. The program has enriched her life. “Karen enjoys talking to people and being around people. The Adult Services program gives her independence. She’s able to be her own person there. She loves having a job and hitting her goals. She loves earning a paycheck -it’s really important to her.” Karen not only works on Elim HOPE Packs but she also provides childcare for two local church’s Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) groups. She enjoys her time with the children and loves doing a good job. Her Elim job coach believes this time also provides additional benefits saying, “Her childcare position provides her an opportunity to be out in the community. She’s very proud of her work and that she’s able to provide a service for others.“ Your gifts to Elim and Elim HOPE Packs help Karen and other individuals with disabilities to reach their God-given potential! |
