Coins for AdoptionMay 13, 2008
The pockets of Elim’s staff and students may feel slightly lighter following a change collection by students in Hannah Schnake’s classroom. The idea for the collection, benefitting Shaohannah’s Hope, an organization that helps families cover the cost of adoption so more children can find a home, came after Elim teacher, Hannah Schnake, learned of the organization at a Steven Curtis Chapman concert. Knowing that two students in her classroom were adopted, Schnake felt the project would be a good fit for her students. She explains, “After watching the video provided by Shaohannah’s Hope, my students were really inspired. One student started crying because she was so touched by the video. She felt so bad for these kids and wanted to help them. One of my adopted students was also particularly excited because she could relate it to her own family.” The eight students in Schnake’s class got right to work, handing out flyers throughout the school. On March 6, the students divided into groups and collected spare change which will be sent to Shaohannah’s Hope. Thank you, Elim staff and students for supporting this great cause and teaching Elim’s students the joy that comes through serving others! |
